Material evolution
Wax paper: In the early 19th century, wax paper was used for candy packaging due to its moisture and oil resistant properties. Wax paper, impregnated with paraffin wax, can effectively block water and oil, making it suitable for packaging candies containing oil such as toffee and nougat.
Glass paper: In the early 20th century, glass paper was used to showcase the beauty of candy due to its transparency.
